Supporting our local heroes: The Resapol Foundation has donated £1,000 to Jessie May Trust. This is part of our continuing mission to uplift the communities around our depots.
Who are Jessie May?
The Jessie May Trust was founded in 1996 by Chris and Philippa Purrington in memory of their daughter, Jessica May, who passed away at just 4½ months old from severe Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Jessica spent her final days at home, surrounded by love and cared for with dignity. A deeply personal experience that highlighted the gap in community-based support for families in the Bristol area. Motivated by their loss, the Purringtons established the charity to ensure other families facing similar circumstances could access compassionate, professional care in their own homes.

At Jessie May, they provide specialist nursing care at home for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. They support parents, siblings and wider family members in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset, Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon, and Wiltshire. Through life and death, bereavement, and grief, they are there for families for as long as they are needed. Whether it be support for weeks, months, and years. With Jessie May seriously ill children can still be children, therefore their families can make memories to look back on when they need them most.
Because of Jessie May, families going through the toughest of times are given a choice they wouldn’t otherwise have. With care at home, exhausted parents can take a break, siblings can spend time together and children can be children. For this amazing work the Foundation is proud to be able to support them with a donation.
Why did our Bristol depot choose them?
Jessie May, a local charity based in Bristol, was selected by our Bristol Ambassador, Mark Ridgers, for its incredible work within the local community. As a locally operated children’s home Jessie May provides vital support to families. The charity stands out not only for the exceptional care it delivers to the children, but also for the compassionate and holistic support extended to the entire family during the most challenging times.
What makes Jessie May truly remarkable is its commitment to using every donation to directly fund home visits carried out by its team of specialist nurses. These visits offer medical, emotional, and practical support. This ensures families can spend precious time together in the comfort of their own homes.
How will they utilise the donation?
The £1,000 donation from the Resapol Foundation will be used to help fund resources. Emma Carter, Head of Fundraising at Jessie May commented:
” We’d like to say a big thank you to the Resapol Foundation for their kind donation of £1,000. Support like this really does make a difference, helping us continue to be there for families when they need us most. We’re so pleased to have their support“.
