The Resapol Foundation announced a donation of £1,000 to St Agnes RC Primary School in Cricklewood, London. Resapol’s Merchant Support Manager, Sam Higgins, made this support possible by nominating the school for the donation.
St Agnes RC Primary School, a voluntary aided Catholic institution, prides itself on being a high-achieving community dedicated to living out gospel values. With a two-form entry system, the school supports the education and development of children from the local area.
St Agnes is known for its robust involvement in the local community and offers a supportive and enriching environment for students. The school emphasises the importance of creating a nurturing space where every child can thrive academically, socially, and spiritually. However, like many educational institutions, St Agnes relies heavily on fundraising to enhance its facilities and provide the best resources for its students.
Sam Higgins, alongside Resapol Director Sean Ofsarnie, visited St Agnes to present a £1,000 cheque from the Resapol Foundation which will go towards the refurbishing the school’s library. Sam explained his reasons for the nomination:
“My wife attended St Agnes and now works there as a teacher, and our daughter is currently a student. Seeing first-hand the incredible work they do, I knew this donation would have a meaningful impact. The new library will not only provide a much-needed resource for the students, but will also help to foster a lifelong love of reading.”
This contribution to St Agnes RC Primary School will undoubtedly have a lasting impact, providing students with an enhanced learning environment that encourages reading and supports their educational journey. The Resapol Foundation is proud to play a part in this significant initiative.
“Our school is situated in an area with the highest deprivation indicator in the country, and studies have consistently shown that deprivation and low levels of literacy are intrinsically linked. Understanding the pivotal role literacy plays in the lives of our students, we embarked on a mission to enhance our school library, recognising that it had not undergone any renovations in over 25 years and was in dire need of a revamp.
The library now stands as a serene forest-themed haven, designed to offer a tranquil and inviting space for our students to immerse themselves in the world of literature. The addition of a glittery gold door beckons the children inside, sparking their curiosity and igniting a passion for reading.
With your generous donation, we plan to enrich our library further by expanding our collection of books and resources. This infusion of new materials will undoubtedly have a profound impact on the children, fostering a love for reading that will extend far beyond the walls of our school. By investing in our library, you are supporting us to nurture a generation of avid readers, breaking the cycle of low literacy levels that often accompany areas of deprivation. Thank you to the Resapol Foundation for the donation and for choosing to support our school.”
