Description :

CEMFLEX VB comprises of a galvanized steel plate which is encapsulated with a unique coating that will react with the cement in the concrete to seal construction joints in reinforced concrete. When fresh concrete is placed around CEMFLEX VB the alkalinity of the concrete activates the coating causing it to activate and crystallise to gain an intimate, active bond with the concrete. Once the concrete is hardened around the waterstop the crystalline coating will remain active for the lifespan of the structure.

Uses :

CEMFLEX VB is used to provide an integral seal in both horizontal and vertical construction joints in concrete it is particularly suitable for sealing kicker joints in reinforced concrete wall construction. It may be used in areas where it is not possible to protect a hydrophilic waterstop from coming into contact with water before it is encased in concrete.

Procedure :

CEMFLEX VB is a pliable metal waterstop which may be easily shaped by hand to the desired profile. It should be cut using a suitable saw for cutting metal. The waterstop may be tied to the reinforcement prior to the concrete pour using CEMFLEX OMEGA holders ensuring that 30mm of the plate is embedded into the first pour of concrete. Alternatively, the CEMFLEX VB may be embedded into freshly placed concrete, once again ensuring that there is at least 30mm embedment. Adjacent lengths of the waterstop should be overlapped by a minimum of 150mm and the laps should be held together using CEMFLEX CLIPS. Two clips should be used to secure each lap. It is important to ensure that concrete placed around the waterstop is thoroughly compacted.
