Resapol is proud to continue its commitment to supporting charities and community organisations with a £1,000 donation to HSP Leigh (Helping to Support People). A local charity providing vital assistance to homeless and vulnerable people across Leigh and the surrounding areas.
The donation forms part of Resapol’s ongoing charitable giving programme, through which we are proud to support organisations making a meaningful difference within their communities.
Helping Support to People Leigh and the Local Community
Based at Charles House in Leigh, HSP – Helping to Support People provides practical help, advice and a welcoming environment for people experiencing homelessness, vulnerability or other difficult circumstances.
The charity provides food, hot drinks, clothing and other essential items, including sleeping bags and tents where required. Its team also offers support and advice to people who need additional help, working alongside a wide range of local organisations and services to ensure individuals can access the right assistance.
HSP’s work is not limited to those experiencing homelessness. The charity supports anyone in genuine need, including elderly and vulnerable people and those facing a variety of challenging circumstances.

From a Local Meal Service to a Wider Support Network
HSP’s roots in the Leigh community stretch back to 2016, when founders Lynn and Paul Bibby established the charity to provide free hot meals to homeless people in the area.
Beginning with a meal service from premises on Railway Road, the organisation grew as demand increased and more people approached the team for additional forms of support. As its services developed, the organisation changed its name from the Homeless Support Project to Helping to Support People, reflecting the wider range of individuals it now assists. Today, HSP works alongside numerous charities, housing providers, public services and community organisations to help people access food, clothing, accommodation support, advice and other essential services.
Will Shaw, our Leigh Depot Ambassador nominated HSP to receive this donation, “I chose HSP as this year’s recipient of the Resapol Foundation donation to assist in the work they have been doing in my local community for a number of years. They have a good presence in the town and expanded their support from the homeless to include a wider range of needs. Their work impacts the community positively through engagement and support of people who need the assistance, reducing anti-social behaviours and helping get people back on their feet.”
How will Helping to Support People (HSP) utilise the donation?
The £1,000 donation will go directly towards the running of HSP and help provide essential services to people in the local community. They provide free, freshly prepared meals, practical support, and access to other services for people experiencing homelessness, financial hardship and other difficulties.
The donation will help towards the cost of providing meals and essential supplies, as well as the day-to-day running costs of their community hub. It will also help them to continue offering a welcoming environment where people can access support, advice, and signposting to other organisations and services.
With the rising cost of food, utilities and other operating expenses, donations such as this are vital in helping to keep their services available to those who need them.
“We are incredibly grateful to Resapol for this generous £1,000 donation. Support from local businesses like Resapol makes a real difference to Homeless Support Project and, most importantly, to the people who rely on our services. Every donation helps us continue providing practical support, food and a safe, welcoming place for people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or struggling financially.”
