Mates in Mind has received a donation, with £1,000 raised by customers, colleagues and suppliers at the annual Resapol Golf Day. Thereby helping to support better mental health and wellbeing across the construction industry.

Mates in Mind is a UK charity working to improve workplace mental health, with a particular focus on the construction industry.
Held at the Forest of Arden Golf & Country Club in June, the annual Resapol Golf Day brought together customers, suppliers and members of the Resapol team for a fantastic day on the Arden course. Alongside the golf and an opportunity to bring people from across the industry together, those attending generously contributed to fundraising for the Resapol Foundation throughout the event.
Thanks to their support, more than £1,000 was raised. The Foundation made the decision to make a specific donation with this money. Mates in Mind was selected as the recipient – creating a direct link between the generosity of those working within the construction industry and a charity dedicated to supporting the people who work within it.
Supporting Mental Health in the Construction Industry
Established in 2017 by the Health in Construction Leadership Group with the support of the British Safety Council. Mates in Mind was created in response to the need for greater mental health awareness and support within the construction sector.
Today, Mates in Mind advocates for building positive mental health in and through work, collaborating with organisations of all sizes to help create workplace cultures focused on prevention.
A key part of its approach is encouraging organisations to educate, train and support employees across the whole workforce. Giving people the skills, understanding and confidence to take action when it comes to mental ill-health. This includes raising awareness, improving understanding, addressing working practices that can negatively affect mental health and implementing effective interventions.

Mates in Mind also focuses on tackling the stigma that can prevent people from speaking openly about their mental health. By encouraging organisations to put continuous, comprehensive and well-communicated support in place, the charity aims to make mental health awareness everyone’s responsibility and help prevent people from reaching crisis point.
Although its work has expanded into other sectors, construction remains at the heart of the charity’s mission. Mates in Mind works with businesses of all sizes to encourage open conversations around mental health and create workplace cultures where people feel better able to speak up and access support when they need it.
The importance of this work remains significant. Mates in Mind reports that suicide rates amongst construction workers are 3.7 times higher than the national average, highlighting the continued need to improve awareness, prevention and support across the industry.
Turning a Great Day into a Lasting Contribution
The Resapol Golf Day has become an important event in the Resapol calendar. Allowing us the opportunity to spend time with the customers we work with throughout the year.
Being able to use the event to also raise funds for a cause so closely connected to industry makes it even more worthwhile.
“Our annual Golf Day is always a fantastic opportunity to bring together customers and colleagues from across our industry, but we’re particularly pleased that this year’s event has also enabled us to support such an important cause. A huge thank you must go to everyone who contributed on the day. Mates in Mind carries out incredibly important work within our industry and we hope this donation can play a small part in helping them continue that work.”
